Gift Card Terms & Policy

How your gift card is delivered
Gift cards purchased on this website are physical cards sent by U.S. Mail. They are not emailed and are not delivered instantly. We load each card by hand and mail it within one business day of your order. Please allow 3 to 7 business days for delivery. If you need a card sooner than that, buy it in person at either studio.
Shipping is free on all gift card orders.
Where it can be used
Gift cards are redeemable in person at both of our studios: Harvard Square, 36 JFK Street, 2nd Floor (The Garage), Cambridge, MA, and Watch City, 12 Taylor Street, Waltham, MA. They can be applied to tattoo work, tattoo deposits, and merchandise.
A gift card is not an appointment. To book, call 617-250-9903 or come by the shop.
Expiration and fees
Your gift card does not expire. There is no purchase fee, activation fee, service fee, dormancy fee, or inactivity fee of any kind. Massachusetts law requires gift certificates to remain valid for at least seven years from the date of issuance; ours carry no expiration date at all.
Cash back on a remaining balance
Massachusetts law gives you the right to take a small remaining balance in cash:
- If your card cannot have value added to it, you may elect to receive the balance in cash once the card has been redeemed for at least 90 percent of its face value.
- If your card can be reloaded, you may elect to receive the balance in cash once the value remaining is $5.00 or less.
In practice we will honor whichever of those two conditions you reach first. Bring the card to either studio.
Refunds, loss, and theft
Gift cards are not refundable or returnable, and cannot be exchanged for cash except as described above. Please treat the card like cash. If it is lost or stolen, contact us right away. If we can match the card to a purchase record we will do our best to reissue the remaining balance, but we cannot guarantee a replacement.
Gift cards are not intended for resale.
Checking your balance
Ask at either studio and we will look up the remaining balance on your card.
Sales tax
No Massachusetts sales tax is charged when you buy a gift card. Tax, where it applies, is calculated when the card is redeemed. Tattooing is not subject to Massachusetts sales tax, and clothing priced at $175 or less is exempt.
Reloading
Cards may be reloaded in person at either studio.
